During the pandemic most people expected that Qatar were enlarging their existing lounge. Instead they did something few expected, they built a completely separate second lounge. Now you enter through a single entrance where you will be met by a receptionist who will guide you either towards the Premium Lounge or the Frequent Flyer Lounge.

Location

The lounge is located down on the left of the airport after security and it is located close to where Qatar flights generally take off. It is only a few minutes walk and you will see the entrance on the left hand side with a plaza premium lounge located next door to this.

Entry Requirements

The requirements are strict and the usual One World rules don’t apply. Unfortunately you will not be able to us on an Avios reward ticket or through One World status. Instead you will need to travelling on a full revenue ticket. Flying on One World Status or on Avios you will need to use the Frequent Flyer Lounge.

Facilities

The lounge has all you would expect from a Qatar airways lounge. It is well presented, clean and modern with shower facilities, a prayer room, tv area and ample seating with views on to the tarmac.

Food and Drink

There is a hot and cold buffet and a serviced dining area with an a la carte menu. The selection within the buffet section is varied and of a high quality. There is also a serviced restaurant for a la carte dining and while I have only been in this lounge for breakfast I found a good range of options on offer. There is also a serviced bar with cocktails and the Champagne on offer is Gosset which is a respected house in Champagne

Service

Staff were attentive and friendly, looking to help you to be seating and intermediately checking in during my stay. In the restaurant the service was quick and found the staff helpful.

Conclusion

The lounge is relatively intimate, however this draws you into you having a much more luxurious feel. The staff are more than helpful but what I particularly enjoyed was strangely leaving the lounge. Unlike other airlines where you monitor the board and guess an appropriate time to leave. Here the staff will only call you to leave when the plane is ready to board the first and business class passengers. In addition, the gates are a mere 15- 30 second walk from the lounge meaning that you can honestly finish your glass of champagne in the lounge and be poured your next glass on the plane within only a few minutes. Giving you more the sense that you are flying on some of the world’s best first-class products rather than in business.
